Shop Feature: Bashful Bear Designs

This week's shop feature is Bashful Bear Designs. This shop  specializes in making Petite clothing  such as  skirts,  shorts and  dresses. She also has a few cute  tote bags which I love  too. I think my favorite item from her shop is the  Green Reversible tote bag. Please  check out more about her and the work she does. you just might find something you like.

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop?
The last few years people have started calling me Emma Bear. It’s such a coincidence, because Emma’s Pet by David McPhail was the first book I ever read. It was about a bear named Emma. I thought Bashful + Bear would be a cute and memorable name!

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?
I started my shop in February 2013. As someone with a petite build, I’ve always found properly fitting clothes hard to come by, especially one’s that are cute! I wanted to focus on clothes that had simple lines with a certain classic femininity about them. I think what makes my shop unique is that I use thrifted materials to make my garments and that the shop focus is on custom made items.

First Experience With Kale

This week I decided to try a new vegetable.  I went to Sprouts and found the kale was on sale. So I decided to give it a try. Of course, I had no idea what I was going to do with it yet until I came across this recipe on Food network.  Honestly, I was  skeptical to have raw kale as when I first looked at it, I wasn't sure how this would turn edible just doing  it.  All I have to say is that its absolutely delicious! It's also healthy and you get your  vegetables and  fruits in one serving. Personally, I think you can substitute  any fruit for mango  but I love mango and I had a bag of  Frozen mango that  I defrosted from Trader Joes to make it work for me. Also the first time, I didn't have  pumpkin seeds  but it still tasted great. Of course,  when I went back to Trader Joe's this week,  I decided to get pumpkin seeds to  make more of this Kale Salad and it tasted even better.

This salad is so easy to make but I really enjoyed the process of it. It's the first time I made salad dressing but I love the honey with it, as it has  a nice blend with how its made. There is one tip I would suggest here, and that is I would rough  chop the kale  leaves up and put in a food  processor.  I find  it  easier and  if you are eating  that day, you wont have to massage the kale that long. It helps  absorbs everything  better that day you're eating it when you break it down with the food processor. You can always make it the day before and  it tastes even better the next day. This  is one of the salads you don't have to worry about the leaves turning brown etc... definitely something that is a keeper  since summer is coming up and only takes minutes to make.  A very versatile  recipe that i know i will be making over and over again.

Here's a video on the salad from Aarti which is the first time I decided to try her recipe. I liked her when she was trying food network star. She's great and a natural with the camera.  In the mean time enjoy the video and recipe and let me know what you think :)

Shop Feature: Let's Go Lesco Photos

This weeks shop Feature is Let's go Lesco Photos by Michelle Lesco from Sydney, Australia. What I like about this shop is that she captures the natural beauty photography. It's nice to see the landscape photos that she does. I tend you like Ocean scenes alot, as it feels very relaxing to me. Maybe that is why I love the beach and like to live close to the ocean as much as possible. No wonder I live in La Jolla! And its' also why the first two beach pictures are my favorites from her shop

Michelle also does custom photos too. So if you have that special memory you want to treasure or have it in a frame, she is your go to gal for this kind of work as well. I still believe photography is wonderful to have in your home. Not just the ones where you snap it on your digital camera or iphone... real quality  likes the ones Michelle has at her shop can really  brighten up the place. Get to know her more through this feature. :)

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop?

Let's Go Lesco Photos is a combination of an old nickname and what I love. "Let's Go Lesco" was something friends and teachers used to call to me regularly growing up. name. While others heard “Excuse me, Ms. So and So….” For me it was “Hey Lesco!” Always. My shop name reflects who I am and where I've been.

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?

My shop is filled with only natural beauty. I don't believe in heavily editing anything--that would make your art lost it natural, organic essence. I prefer to let the originality and nature of my subject take prevalence.

Shop Feature: Fanie's Boutique

This week's shop Feature is Fanie's Boutique.  The shop sells greeting cards, artwork, and cartoon art. I love the cartoon art she has on display at her shop it brings me back memories of  how fun cartoons were back in those times. I could really be a kid back then! My favorite item is the Dragon greeting card is has there. I love how it matches the banner of her shop too, way too cute!  I don't think I could even give that dragon card away. It be just a card I collect unless she were to  give a whole box of dragon's cards!  ;)

Well here are some more details about Fanie and her work! there's also a funny video she included for laughs.  Enjoy today's post everyone!

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop?
For the moment, my shop's name is Fanie's Boutique, because it's my name! :-)
Fanie is also a very young and cute name in french. So it fit with my drawing style!

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?
I really enjoy creating cute cartoons and funny drawings. There are always little "stories" happening in my drawing. I never draw something just for it to be funny, there are always stories happening.
I love to make useful and whimsical items with my drawings. Like greeting cards, posters and .PDF files.
I also love to draw comics, so I'll be making more comics, this year. :-)
