   1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop?
When I first created my shop I thought to myself, 'what do I want to be known as?' To me, this was a very easy question, so I chose my initials. Boring I know, It's not as creative as other peoples, but I like to keep things simple.

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?
I sell a variety of affordable pre-made logos for small business'. I also offer custom design work for those who wish to have something a little more personal! I'd say the designs in my shop were unique compared to others, as I like to experiment with different mediums such as watercolour.

3. What is your favorite item at the store and why?

Mhmm... well, I'm going to have to say the 'Blossoms' pre-made logo for sure! It features a lovely flower embellished circle, it's just perfect. It's also helped me in a way too, since creating that I've been contacted by a few wedding specialists asking about custom designs and it makes me want to start selling printable wedding invitations. Exciting!

4. What inspires create your products?
I'm inspired by a lot of things. Even if I'm just wondering around my local supermarket, I'll see something with beautiful typography on the packaging and ideas will start gathering in my head. I'd also say that Pinterest is the Queen of inspiration to me, there's so many images on there I could spend days glued to my computer screen.

 6. What advice can you give for other sellers out there for their shop?
Promote, promote, promote! A few months back I knew nothing about promoting and my shop was going nowhere. But ever since I joined an abundance of Etsy Teams and constantly contributed to all the forums I noticed an increase in my shop views and sales. I'd say do something you love, because you'll want to promote and if you keep a blog of up-to-date things around your chosen area, you're bound to get somewhere. All it takes is a bit of passion.

Now some fun facts about you

7. What is your Favorite Food?
Oh, this is such a hard question! Can I say everything? If I had to choose though, I'd have to go with noodles. Honestly, I get through so many packets of noodles a week, it's unbelievable.

8. Describe us one positive event in your life in your life that you felt was a miracle to you or that you knew the Universe was there watching over you.
I wasn't prepared to go to University after leaving college, because I didn't fancy moving away from my family and friends. It was getting to the end of my college year, everyone had their places in various Uni's and I had nothing, didn't know what I was going to do... then my tutor announced to the class that they were starting a HND course (Higher National Diploma, it's basically like the first two years of University) this was my break through, I immediately applied and got a place! I'd say that if I hadn't done that, I certainly wouldn't be were I am today with my designing.

9. What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Definitely Canada! I went on holiday with my family and we rented an RV for a few weeks to travel around Canada and discover the beautiful sites first hand. It was amazing and one of the best experiences of my life! I saw many famous locations, from the CN Tower in Toronto to Niagara Falls and Algonquin National Park.

10. Anything else you like to share about you?
I spend a lot of time with my mum throughout the week and she tries to teach me knitting (It's never going to happen). I've found knitting impossible to do with my clumsy hands, so I'll leave that to her, but we've been discussing about opening a second Etsy shop, primarily to sell her wonderful knitted creations, so keep your eyes peeled! :)

Shop Feature: Kindred Toys

Peg People Dolls Grandparents and Granddaughter Peg Family

This Weeks shop feature is Kindred Toys by Stevie Rae. the shop is fairly new and it looks here that its specializing in painted peg doll families. I think they are cute and  kids need to use their imagination . Red below to find out more about this shop.

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop
I chose the name Kindred because the foundation of my shop has to do with family. While the mainstream idea of family may be a dual-parent household and a few kids the majority of my friends/family/community are more diverse and face a lot of opposition. I wanted a name that validated their family structure.

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?
The concept behind my shop (maintaining in-stock items that represent family dynamics outside of the "norm") is what makes it unique.

Peg People **IN STOCK** Tranquility Meditation Peg Dolls I

 3. What is your favorite item at the store and why?
My current 2 favorites are the Grandparent set and the Birth Mother doll. The grandparents because they just look like fun people. The Birth Mother has a special spot in my heart because I have close friends and family that have either adopted or been birth parents themselves both through surrogacy and adoption.

4. What inspires create your products?
My friends, my family, my community. Anyone I know who has fought against all odds to create a family where there may not have been before. People who love unconditionally.

Wedding Decoration, Favor, or Photo-Prop Peg Dolls in Plum

 8. Describe us one positive event in your life in your life that you felt was a miracle to you or that you knew the Universe was there watching over you.
It sounds cliche, but meeting my husband. He stood out to me instantly but I couldn't explain why. We were in college together. He was dating someone else at the time and I remember running into him casually and making small talk. He mentioned that he'd just had lunch with his girlfriend and I felt a twinge of unexpected jealousy. We became friends and it was amazing how compatible we were. He eventually went separate ways with the girl he was seeing.

9. What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
My favorite vacation spot so far is the Isle of Palms in South Carolina. We went there for my sister-in-laws wedding and the combination of family, sun, and the ocean (I've always been extremely drawn to bodies of water. I find them soothing) was the perfect equation for restoration.

Divine Love Prosperity Candle, How To Make It Work For You

Just in time for the holidays is the Divine  Love Prosperity Candle.  This candle is a 3 layer candle and  boy  it was a challenge to make. In fact, this candle isn't even my creation. this was a custom  made candle that a  customer asked me to  make  which ended  up something that was really  fun to make. I  would have never thought about making a candle like this but after  so much love and work into my creation, I finally  got it made  the way it needed to bring the right energy  into this candle.

Skip the Traditional Pumpkin and Try a Pumpkin Roll

 LIBBY'S® Pumpkin Roll

It's  always traditional to  have a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving but  for the last  5  years I have always  made a  pumpkin roll  for  dessert which is like my signature dish for  dessert. My family always  looks forward to it. So if you are needing a change of  pace I highly recommend  this dish. It's one of my  favorites. I  think the hardest part  is  rolling the cake because you need to gentle or the cake can crack. But if you like me, as long as it tastes great that is what matters so here is what you will need  for  this recipe:

Shop Feature: The Book Whisperer

Decorative Box, Jewelry Box, Trinket Box, Treasure Box, "TREASURE" in Vintage Steampunk Style

This weeks shop feature is The Book Whisperer. The shop itself  specializes in  making smash books, junk journals, scrapbooks and photo albums. My favorite item is the decorative box from above. to find out more about this shop,  read below.

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop
I’m a dog lover and one of my favorite shows is Cesar Milan’s program, TheDogWhisperer. I stole the name of my shop from him. (I hope he doesn’t mind.) When I first opened my shop, my artistic focus was on crafting ‘smashbooks’ by upcycling old books into new, gorgeous journals and scrapbooks. I felt I was rescuing and rehabilitating books, just as Cesar rescues and rehabilitates dogs. Since then, my focus has shifted more into the realm of Junk Journals, Photo Albums and other papercrafts… but the name is the same. =)

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?
Every item in my shop is completely, totally, utterly handcrafted. I start with chipboard and glue and tape and pretty papers and buttons and… and.. and.. you get the point. I never know how an item will turn out when I begin, I just dig in and let the project flow of its’ own accord. Sometimes I’m really pleased with the final design, sometimes not so much. The beauty of papercrafting is that for those ‘not so much’ moments… I can always cover up the unpleasing area with something more pleasing.

Get Creative With Casting Spells

After over  a year of opening up  my store, I have  discovered that I do  have a creative  side to things even though  back then I thought creative meant  more of an Art like drawing  or painting. But I soon realize that being creative  in even  spell casting is even more fun and  magical.  So here I am  to share something really important with you when you cast your own spells. Be creative! That's right.  What does that mean?  It means to go with the flow and  learn to  trust your own self  in  selecting the right magical items for your  situation. Often, I have found customers asking me to  recommend which candles work best for their situation. And  while,  I can recommend items that work best from my view point, I have discovered that when I tell customers to pick what they keep been drawn to it works best.  It's funny  how that works, but  it has been  very effective.

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?

No one else makes miniature tipis that are authentic. No one else makes Canvas Grocery Bags and Market Totes from the high quality canvas that I do. No one else makes custom organizers for customers from just a quick photo. I do canvas better than anyone out there and I'm not shy about saying it.

White Sage Loose Leaf for cleansing, remove negativity, wisdom longevity, protection, wishes

Mercury Retrograde Madness: The Meaning Behind It

It's that time of year again, that we have started mercury retrograde! If you have read through astrology or things on mercury retrograde, you might have encountered that  retrograde is base of miscommunications,  or  things not working right for a few weeks.  While that might be true, that is  not really  what mercury retrograde is about. It doesn't mean things are just doing to be negative or people aren't  going   understand  you, its far from it.

9. Describe us one positive event in your life in your life that you felt was a miracle to you or that you knew the Universe was there watching over you
.

When I graduated college, I had absolutely no idea where I was going or what I was doing. I thought that I had just wasted a bunch of time and money going to school for something that I didn't even know that I would actually like. I felt really alone. After some serious prayer, I found this quote:
"It isn’t as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don’t worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future." - Gordon B. Hinckley
So I'm taking things one day at a time and being happy with whatever comes :) It helps. I promise.

10. What is your favorite vacation spot and why?

My absolute favorite vacation spot is any and all things Disney! We're a Disney family and I even worked there for a spell. It really is just the most magical place on earth. Despite their outrageous prices for popcorn and stuffed animals, they really bring families together. Can't wait to take my kids there someday :)

11. Anything else you like to share about you?

We're fairly new to the whole shop/blog thing, so would love to work with anyone on collaborations or guest posts.

Product Review: Goo Gone Citrus Gel Spray

As you may know, I  keeping making candles and since then making candles have  getting a bit more messy. It's hard to take off the wax at times especially when it goes on the  counter!  So   after using my own  cleaning supplies, I was getting annoyed. That is until I goggled  up on  how to take off this candle wax.  I ran across this article and I finally decided  to invest in a bottle of Goo Gone.   This stuff really works... I was a bit surprised but  when anything is really sticking , all  I have to do is spray on it  and  wipe away and its gone.  Now if  its been a while that its been sticky then I

https://img1.etsystatic.com/026/0/35746024/icm_fullxfull.31479187_n38nk51l5yosg4s40sk0.jpg

This weeks Shop feature is Calluna Muse by Heather. 1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop

I am named after a flower, Heather, and the

Latin term is Calluna Vulgaris. So, I dropped

the Vulgaris (for obvious reasons, yikes!) and added

Muse because I've always loved the idea of

a 'muse'.

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?

I wanted it to be a different take on beaded

jewelry. I've done it all my life and I was

looking for a modern feel. Some

new designs and a different twist on older designs. I think it has a nice

feel between being on par with current

trends but also allowing you to be

unique and maybe also start your

own trends! And who doesn't want

to be a trendsetter!

Reinventing Passion Product line

One thing that I have learned as I own a shop is to make changes to items when  necessary.  It's nice to always  improve my items along the way even if that means to change the  formula  of  my one my products. So after months of thinking, I  reinvented the passion candle. I realize that more requests were about trying to draw their  special someone closer to them. Let me say, it took me a few months to  reinvent the passion oil along with it  but after changing  it and  redoing the  description, this  candle has been a  hot  item that I am consistently making. My passion oil  now it more of a musky scent ( quite spicy)  and when you wear it,  don't be surprise  if you  get people's attention easily.  I have worn the oil before and just gone shopping for groceries, and it makes people eye on you. Even  wearing it can get you in the mood for the  bedroom if you choose to do so with your partner.

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop

My shop name is derived from a roadside gypsy magic trick that gained popularity in the 20th century called the Gypsy Thread, wherein the magician would seem to tear a string into many small pieces, then magically join them back together.I saw this as a metaphor for fashion and a perfect name for the vintage bohemian collection that I have created.

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?

I have a very good eye for high quality authentic vintage pieces that demonstrate versatility and character. My very dear friend helps me to style the models that generously share their time with me as I try to convey the period and personality of each piece.

If I Wasn't Psychic...

If I wasn't Psychic,  I say I be a Flutist.  Gosh  every time I look back my flute, I  think of all the wonderful memories I had  in  being in the band. I don't care if I was called a band geek either. It was just nice to be part of the world of music.   I remember working so hard to work  prove to  people I could  play the  flute. People didn't believe I had the talent back then but it was my  passion and love for this  instrument that kept me going to where it defined me for who I am today.  Granted it took me a few years to get to  make it first chair, I was always proud of being able to play the instrument. It was the one class I look forward to doing.

Shrimp Pasta Recipe

Yes did I tell you one  of my favorite  foods is pasta?  I am actually really good at making pasta in fact my  family  always asks me to make pasta  when  I visit! Actually if anything  again its because I love to learn  new recipes try them out all the time.  But I thought I share  with you one  of my  favorite  shrimp recipes from Food Network. It's so Good  and  honesty, this was the first recipe I learned from Giada. I have  always  been curious  of  her cooking so finally I  got  to the  kitchen and  viola!  This recipe  has become a staple  in my place so here is the  video and the  recipe is right below  if you are interested in trying out.... I know  sometimes we think pasta  is  too many calories but you know what I do, I weigh  all my pasta  I am gonna  make for myself  as a serving and  cook just that... remember 2 oz  of pasta is not  alot when you weigh on the kitchen scale...  so its really not about the sauce... its the pasta that you have to really watch out for... that's my  tip!   just be prepared to have salad or something light  on the side  as a filler and you wont feel  guilty  eating  pasta anymore. That is what I have learned! So here  is the recipe and a video  to go along iwth it Enjoy and let me know what you think! :)

Recipe:
Ingredients

1 pound penne pasta
1/4 cup olive oil
1 pound medium shrimp, peeled, and deveined
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus extra for seasoning
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus extra for seasoning
1 (15-ounce) can whole tomatoes, drained, roughly chopped
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 cup white wine
1/3 cup clam juice
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan

Directions

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the pasta and cook until tender but still firm to the bite, stirring occasionally, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain the pasta and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, garlic, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper. Cook, stirring frequently until the shrimp turn pink and is cooked through, about 3 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, remove the shrimp and set aside.

Add the tomatoes, 1/4 cup basil, 1/4 cup parsley, and the red pepper flakes. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the wine, clam juice, and heavy cream. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 7 to 8 minutes until the sauce thickens. Add 1/4 cup of the Parmesan, the cooked shrimp, the cooked pasta, and the remaining herbs. Toss together until all ingredients are coated. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.

Transfer the pasta to a large serving bowl. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and serve immediately.

Anime of the Season: Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

As you may know I am a  big anime fan and as I have  watched so many anime that I  always come across something  each season that I can recommend that totally stands out from the rest. That being said I bring you  Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack on Titan).  This is a story based of humans surviving and  fighting  for their lives against the  giants (titans). Yes, its a bit  gruesome as  titans  do feed on the humans. The basic premise of the story is that country and its citizens has been caged within their city walls for 100 years and created their little towns of their own. Imagine not being  able to go outside of the world to see and explore things. These  humans don't even know what  the world is, you can see even children trying to understand why it means to be outside the city walls. Meanwhile, the citizens have lived  in peace until finally the titans  are able  to break through the city walls losing one town in the beginning... hence the  war begins between titans and humans...

This week's shop feature is Pink Flamingo Handcrafting by  by Laura Barker. I love the creativity that she has in her shop ranging  from cards to bracelets to gift tags and so much  more in there. It's nice to see a variety that she has at her shop, that is what I really like there. No mention alot of what shei s making is beautiful and cute too. My  favorite item is the  Animal birthday card set. gosh its too cute for me ot use and give away, I  probably just collect it for myself.  Anyways learn  more about  Laura right below.

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop
I set up my small business in May this year to make and sell products and teach craft classes. The name I was going to have for this was what my shop would be called too and I wanted a name that reflected something about the nature of my work and be a memorable image. I had a lot of thoughts but nothing felt right. Then when I was looking in my jewellery box I saw my pink flamingo brooch that I bought from an antique centre a few years ago and it just seemed right! The brooch is a delicate flamingo with pink sparkly stones (not real ones!) and it looks vintage but has a modern feel too and this is an idea I wanted in my work too. So Pink Flamingo Handcrafting was born! Although when I came to opening my Etsy shop that name was too long (something I didn’t realise!) so on there I’m Pink Flamingo Crafting.

Animal birthday card set: 3 cards featuring a tiger, elephant and hippo. Handmade in the UK. Can be personalised. Perfect for children.

PsychicJoelle.com Finally Up!

Wow, I have come a long way from really getting my work out there.  For the longest time, I have worked really hard to try to build my own brand but never knew  how to really go about it.   I have learned everything by myself I mean seriously I look back and go wow in just over a year I finaly get  my blogger site right,  learn how to promote my Facebook page correct, learn photoshop,  how to use newsletters efficiently, twittering and now PsychicJoelle.com.  Just when I felt stuck, I  can say now that I don't feel stuck anymore!  It's just an achievement one after the other in such a good way that I feel so good that I learned everything on my own!

It's only been a little over a year and I realized that  I have created a brand for myself in a good way. Come to think of it I noticed that I can shine with my own work rather than  relying on others to help me. It sure takes longer to do the work I need to do but  gosh if there is one thing that I  have learned in my life that is to be your own best friend and do things  on your own. You are your own support always!  I have found that I achieve greater results by doing a lot of things on my own  than to ask people for help.  Not that its bad to get help  from others, but people give the run around  a lot and I know most people don't realize that some things  really need  immediate  attention.  They just let it sit there without response lol. So the  one thing I have learned is to do it yourself.  In one way or another, I have always found a way to do things that I would never have imagined that I could be so successful in doing.

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop?
Thailand is the Land of Smiles, and we are both very positive people who believe a smile is a great thing to share. Also, while I traveling last year I came up with the quote “A smile means hello in every language.” JEM is a mix of our names, Janelle Elizabeth and Megan Elizabeth. We have been travel partners and best friends since middle school.

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?
My shop is unique because of the commitment we have to improving local communities. We are happy to donate 10% to improve communities where are products are made. We make bracelets in Ventura County and donate 10% to Food Share, and we travel to Thailand and spend a few months every year making and designing scarves. We donate 10% of the proceeds from each scarf to SOS Children’s Villages in Thailand.

New Additions to the shop - Aromatherapy Pillar candles

I have  been working on  aromatherapy candles  lately and I love the scents that I have been creating with them. These candles are so therapeutic and relaxing. I just love just even the smell of it. If you are allergic to  essential oils then these candles are the alternative to help you with your goals. Even though they are just scented , you can be the creator  of  turning them into spell candles of your choice. It gives you greater flexibility to create your own magic candle. In fact it's really awesome if you try to get creative into doing  your additions to the candle. Just adding your creations  into a simple candle can just make the candles more part of who you are and from  the moment you light it, you can still feel the magic with you when you experience your own self how fun and exciting it can be dress up your candle.

Shop Feature: Mending Life Together

Panda Crinkle Tag Blanket, Security Blanket, Baby Shower Gift

This week's shop feature is Mending Life Together by Olivia Hook.  I love how cute this shop  is as it caters to baby items. you can find so much stuff ranging  from  messenger bags,  bibs, cloths, and even  blankets. Pretty anything you need for your baby  needs you can find here.  Here is more information about the shop itself.

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop?
I came up with my name while I was at an adoption party for my moms friend. I remembered a saying my grandma used for fixing jeans and it was Mending. I didn't want to put my name in the shop and, I also didn't want to say sewn item, kids, toddler, or babies in the title. In case I wanted to expand the store. So I thought of other words for mending which were fixing, together. So I wanted Mending, and Together in it. Then the word Life just popped up. That's how I came up with my name.

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?
What makes my items unique is that the prints aren't something you would find in everyone elses stores. I try to find unique fabric so that you won't find something like it in any other store. Also that a 15 year old girl made these items kinda makes them unique in their own little way.

Being a women and creating jewelry for women, I used the female version, puella aeterna, or eternal girl to describe my work.

New Additions to the blog

 Hi everyone,
If you have been  visiting  my blog  regularly you might have noticed a new change on the top left corner.   I wanted to share you what that is all about.  It took me a while to learn how to  update this section but in the mean time  its finally completed. So here is the low down on what all that stuff is there.

First let me say I love  the flower girl theme. In all honesty, i feel in love with the design when I first found it because she does represent me and my own style. I love her and the colors are what I like because its more a bright  and flowing to work on. Anyways, I wont be changing the theme any time soon.  I found the  perfect  fit for this personal  blog  so unless something inspiring comes along the way, this theme is here to stay! :)

Now  the new stuff...

1.  Joie Joelle Shop:  This leads to my  main shop at Storenvy.  You can just click on this link and it will take it right to your site.  I dont have an Etsy link because I am always  promoting my own store front. But rest assure both shops are exactly the same. The only thing I dont  offer on Etsy  is psychic readings. I  believe  Etsy is catered to handmade items and honesty it just never felt right for me to add psychic readings on there, after this is Etsy  and I do want to make sure that I am  following their  rules on there.  But otherwise  both stores are the same.

2.  Psychic Joelle Website- this is my business  page. My intention was to turn this into a store at  first but then it jsut got so complicated that i realize wow that is just too much work 3 stores?  It's way too much to do. So Psychic Joelle  is about me page. Behind it you will get to read about my experience as a psychic, my mottos, testimontials etc... I will  just link this page to everything I have together. It will work better for me all the way around. I am not sure if I want to add psychic readings  on there to purchase yet,  if i can get the shopping  cart to work right then of course i will have it there. In the  mean time I kept it clean simple and  me as always. I hope you like site.

3.  Be a Sponsor- Yes  Sponsor  my  website, that's right by just placing your ad there! I am open to swapping ads as an  exchange. All you have to do  is add my  blog button to your site, and tada I just make  sure  its on your site and you will be approved. Otherwise its a $5  fee for an ad space but that is  for 30 days! So if you have a shop and want some spotlight on you, invest  your time here.

4.  Featured Wednesdays-  yesssssssss this is the section where one shop is  featured every week. It's been a hit for  several months  but really worth it it. My readers love reading this stuff all the information is at your disposable there so if you  are a shop owner or you know  someone  that will benefit  from  this, let  them know!

Well that covers the  new chnages here, I worked hard  on this  for a few weeks so I do hope you like the change, if  you have any questions  be sure to  leave a comment  or  email me and I will  get back to  you.

Here are more information about her beautiful pieces of jewelry.

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop?

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?
My shop is a small display of the thousands of pieces of jewelry I have designed. All of my jewelry is inspired by nature or nature's affect on architecture. On my facebook page I run an ongoing series called "inspiration/creation" where I show the picture of what inspired the jewelry.

Awaken Your Senses - Lemon Cayenne Energy Drink

Post image for Morning Drink: Lemon Cayenne Water

I am not a big fan of  energy  drinks  but I did  come across a  recipe from a book I was reading on last month and wanted to  share  this drink  recipe for you.  One of the reasons I like this recipe is the  fact that its healthy and all natural. I have  this drink once a day because it gives me energy and it's   very delicious.  The other benefit of this drink is that it can be detoxifying for your liver and digestive system.  If you drink this in the morning  you will get your digestion and  metabolism  going. That also means you can burn more fat too,  the overall drink can  actually get your body going and  more tasty than you popping an energy  drink like the red bull. While its great any time  of the day I prefer to pop this in in the morning, wakes me up very good... well I have it after i have my coffee LOL but that is drink I enjoy like a treat!

Shop Feature: Tiki Bar Soap

This week's shop Feature is Tiki Bar Soap

1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop?

My shop is called Tiki Bar Soap. I really liked the play on words, Tiki Bar, a Bar of Soap... I also really like 50s retro and rockabilly themed items, from clothing to housewares, so I thought my little bath and body company should be a reflection of that. I try to stick to that theme when designing labels, packaging, and products. At first I was only going to offer drink scents, but have since branched out into a range of essential oil and fragrance products that nearly everyone will enjoy.

Natural Soap, Handmade, Shea Butter Soap, Cocoa Butter Soap, Scuppernong Wine Soap, Palm Oil Vegan Soap

2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?

I make handmade vegan bath and body products that are also palm oil free. I eat a high raw vegan diet 85% of the time (hey, no one is perfect! and I do have free range eggs from time to time but besides that my diet is devoid of animal products) and wanted to create something that everyone could enjoy, even very strict vegans. None of my products contain honey, beeswax, silk, goats milk, etc. I also check with my suppliers to ensure that every item I purchase is deemed vegan friendly and has not been tested on animals.

3. What is your favorite item at the store and why?

My dead sea facial products - the soap and mud mask - my skin has truly been transformed since I started using them. Less oil, fewer breakouts, just overall awesome skin.
Mineral Makeup All Natural Mineral Foundation

4. What inspires create your products?

Even though I come from a very technical background, I have always been very artistic and creative. My business is a natural outlet for my creativity and I really enjoy planning the colors, scents, and themes of all of the items I create.

5. Where can we find you?

Online at tikibarsoap.com and on etsy at https://www.etsy.com/shop/TikiBarSoap

Vegan Lip Gloss, Lip Balm, Adorable Lip Balms, Kawaii Lip Gloss

6. Do you have any coupons or discounts for us?

30% off, use code psyched

7. What advice can you give for other sellers out there for their shop?

Don't give up! Success isn't instant, and you have to continue to work at it. Even though I have been in business now for over a year and this is now my full time gig, I have tons of areas to improve upon. No one is perfect, and you should not expect immediate success or an income that will replace your day job to instantly materialize. You get back what you put in, but you have to focus your efforts or you can be putting in lots and getting back very little.

Now some fun facts about you

I love pandas! I also like green smoothies, programming and web development, I TRY to exercise every day (I love working out, but it is sometimes difficult to find the time! I would live in the gym if I could though). I also have 3 very spoiled cats. I have a PhD in chemistry. I am really into natural childbirth - both our kids have been born at home. I like watching cartoons and kids movies. I am really into EDM and that is basically all I listen to all day. I also like gardening but this is only the second year I haven't killed all my plants. I suppose the fact that they go into my soaps is motivation to water them! I also have more time now that I am not working full time plus soaping full time to remember to water them :)

8. What is your Favorite Food?

Hands down Thai - I love anything spicy.

9. Describe us one positive event in your life in your life that you felt was a miracle to you or that you knew the Universe was there watching over you.

When I was 16 I had a car wreck that should have killed me. When I got out of the car a man in a white suit came over and prayed with me, then vanished. Now, I am not a very religious person or anything, but I really do think this was a miracle. My friend later told me that it was most likely his crazy uncle that liked to wear a white tux from time to time. I told him if it was his uncle, he put on the tux to come out and help me, but whatever the case I felt like that moment was really transcending.

10. What is your favorite vacation shop and why?

I always spend most of my money on food and coffee when I am traveling, and like to pick up little trinkets from local street vendors - support handmade, you know? I also try to study the language before taking a trip so that I can least make an attempt to start a conversation, ask for directions, hail a cab, etc. So far I have learned Spanish, French, and Japanese (sort of, lol. Like I said TRY)

11. Anything else you like to share about you?

I love doing custom orders! Just shoot me a message on my contact form, I would love to hear from you!
