Shop Feature: Caffeinated Papercuts Gift Pack Giveaway
This week's shop feature is Caffeinated Papercuts. I love this little shop as I find that Jennifer is creative with what she has going on in her store. I love the fact that she makes all sorts of things ranging from greeting cards, ornaments, coasters, gift tags ad even gift bags! Just love all the variety that she has going on there. I am a big fan of coasters and I love her elegance in the coaster designs.
1. How did you come up with the Name of your Shop?
Would you believe it actually took me about two weeks to think of something? I wanted something fun, functional, yet still gave a hint as to what I sold. Originally I wanted to call my shop Caffeinated Stationery, but it turns out that Etsy has a character limit and the name was too long! It was my husband who suggested the switch to Caffeinated Papercuts; after all, I drink lots of coffee and cut paper. Usually at the same time.
2. Tell us a little bit about your shop and what you think makes it unique?
My shop was born out of my love of paper; the patterns, the feel of it, and the multiple ways you can manipulate it into little pieces of art. I actually started paper crafting when I was a starry-eyed, newly-engaged girl flipping through wedding invitation catalogs. I was dismayed at the lack of originality of the invitations (not to mention the exorbitant prices!) so I tossed the catalogs aside and started designing my own. From there it grew to scrapbooking, card making…anything that gave me a reason to use pretty paper! What I think makes my shop unique is that everything in there was designed and made by my two hands. Most designs are one-of-a-kind, and those that aren’t still wind up a little bit different every time. I might have cut the paper a little differently, or used a bit more blue the second time I colored a flower. Each item is special.
3. What is your favorite item at the store and why?
Oh boy…that’s actually really hard. The Layered Wedding Invitation with Leaf Embellishment is my wedding invitation, so they’ll always have a special place in my heart. I think my favorite things to create are the cards. That’s when I can really let my creativity flow with stamping, coloring, paper piecing, and GLITTER!
4. What inspires you to create your products?
It varies; could be a color combination I see and like, could be a feeling I want to recreate. Nature plays a large role, too, as do friends and coffee. I’ve had times where I’ve seen a piece of paper I just knew I have to create something with or a stamp that is beyond adorable and needs to be used. It can even be something as simple as “I want to use this button. What can I do with it?”
5. Where can we find you?
Typically in Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. Of course if you can’t come see me there, you can follow my exploits online. :)

I always warn my Twitter followers that I also use the account to talk about gaming, cats, and child antics as well. It’s very, well, me!
6. Do you have any coupons or discounts for us?
I have this Huggies coupon for Target, but I still need that one. However, if one of my caffeinated creations simply HAS to come home with you, go ahead and use the coupon code HazelnutLatte at checkout for 15% off. (Seriously, have you tried those at Starbucks? SO. GOOD.)
7. What advice can you give for other sellers out there for their shop?
Be patient and diligent. It took me weeks to make my first sale and I still go through dry spells when I’m convinced I’ll never sell anything again. Focus on making your shop look good and join some teams to help keep your spirits up and the ideas rolling. Etsy has some wonderful teams that help you promote your shop and keep up with the current trends and SEO. Just keep at it, and you can do it!
8. What is your Favorite Food?
Coffee.
Wait, that’s not technically a food, is it? My favorite dish at my favorite restaurant is the black bean pork with string beans. YUM.
9. Describe us one positive event in your life that you felt was a miracle to you or that you knew the Universe was there watching over you.
Oh boy. There have been a couple instances of that, but the most recent was on Christmas Eve morning the first winter after we bought our house. My husband and I were travelling to meet my family for our traditional Christmas Eve breakfast. It had snowed a few days before, but the road appeared clear. As I came up over a hill, I saw there was a huge snowdrift in front of us. It was one of those instances that by the time you saw it, it was already too late to do anything about it. We went right through it and couldn’t steer out of it. The car finally came to a stop when it hit a tree at the bottom of a ravine. The miraculous part is that we both walked away unharmed though the car was utterly totaled. To top it all off, three weeks later I found out I was pregnant with our son, meaning I probably was during the accident. All of us were very lucky that Christmas!
10. What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Oh easy; Spoiled Rotten in Ogunquit, Maine. They have amazing finds, many of them handmade, and walking in they make you feel completely at home and like they’re there simply to help you find whatever you need. You are surrounded by beautiful things, wonderful smells from the candles, jams, and jellies, and people who care. Better still, they’re usually taste testing drink mixes, too!
11. Anything else you like to share about you?
I’m a geek. I’m a techie. I’m a gamer, mostly tabletop RPGs. I love having my house full of family & friends. I hate it when a movie completely ruins a good book. I love the beach, walking through the waves along the shore with a cup of coffee in hand and my son scampering through the waves. I fully expect to have cats and chickens until the day I die and wear high heels just as long. I’m horrible at directions, often get lost, but I can find a coffee shop anywhere I go. I fully believe that life is an amazing journey, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next.
